Russian DJ banned from music festivals for not criticising Russia enough

Russian DJ and performer Nina Kraviz has been banned from festivals in Detroit, The Hague and Dortmund.

Time magazine launched a campaign against her. Criticism of the ban included

“Music and sports are the only segments which connect people around the world. Leave them alone.”

The Google summer of code 2022 has banned Russian and Belorussian participants. Alphabet aka Google have also labelled, censored and banned both independent and state affiliated Russian media. Google have stopped users carrying out normal financial transactions via the Play store and Youtube.

Threats, bricks and discrimination in the Netherlands

Threats to restaurants, a supermarket and a brick thrown through windows. 11 reported accounts of discrimination including banned from attending a sports event, banned from accessing notary services, cancelled from music events. These are the reported ones, they think it is thetip of the iceberg.

Ukrainian researchers tell the world that Russians have no moral right to be scientists

Ukrainian scientists have issued the strongest calls for banning Russian researchers from journals. “Russian scientists have no moral right to retransmit any messages to the world scientific community,” says Olesia Vashchuk, the head of Ukraine’s Young Scientists Council at the Ministry of Education and Science, in two letters dated 1 March. The letters, to publisher Elsevier and citation database Clarivate, call for Russian journals to be removed from databases and for Russian scientists to be taken off journal editorial boards.

Dostoevksy banned then reinstated

A university in Italy has backtracked on a decision to postpone a course about the work of Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky following a backlash. However Paolo Nori decided to give up the course on Dostoevsky at the Bicocca University of Milan and has been invited by other universities to hold the course.
